There's a great write-up from Peter Bourne on Cabernert Shiraz blends and he rates our One Black Dog Cabernet Shiraz in the top 7 Aussie blends. Love your work Peter! We're down to the last of the 2005 One Black Dog, the 2006 will be released later in the year. If you ask Steve nicely, he might even be able to find you a bottle of the triple trophy winning 2004 One Black Dog!     Riesling Vertical Pack We've put together a limited release Riesling vertical pack. It has one bottle each from 2003 to 2008 including the highly awarded 2005 Riesling. It's a great cross section of Riesling that demonstrates perfectly the cellaring potential of this variety. A brilliant gift idea, perfect for Riesling nuts or perhaps a Riesling themed dinner party? We have a limited number of these available from cellar door or by mail order. It's not listed in the online store so give us a call on (08) 8843 4020 or send an email!      2005 One Black Dog Cabernet Shiraz Intense, sweet nose, scented with smooth, blue fruit and meaty, herbal notes, making it a more pliable and expressive wine than many at this age. But it has ample tannin to ensure that this black dog will continue to run for years. 92 points. Wine 100 Magazine, July 2009      2005 Riesling - Museum Release We've always maintained that Clare Riesling looks it's best after a couple of years in the bottle. Our 2005 Riesling is no exception! A wine from a classic Clare vintage, it is aging particularly gracefully and drinking beautifully with lovely weight and oilyness. It's done very well in wine shows including a Top 10 rating at the 2008 International Riesling Challenge. We have released some limited museum stock that is now available from Cellar Door. Our 2006 Grenache Shiraz and 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon were both rated as 5 Glass Wines whilst the 2005 One Black Dog Cabernet Shiraz and 2007 Riesling were both rated 4.5 Glass wines.

Bob the Labrador was our loyal and constant companion from the very beginning at Neagles Rock. It is only fitting that our reserve Cabernet Shiraz blend is named “One Black Dog” in her honour.

62% Cabernet Sauvignon (Home Block and Duncans Block), 38% Shiraz (Duncans Block)

The fourth vintage of our One Black Dog reserve wine comes from the 2006 Vintage. A wet winter, good spring rains and excellent fruit set produced exceptional colour and flavour with the best parcels selected for this wine.

Cabernet and Shiraz are both strong varieties in the Clare Valley with exceptional regional characters. When they are blended together we believe they show their true power, balanced with elegance that make a classic Australian red wine blend.
Cabernet from our Home and Duncans Block was aged in new French barriques and 39 year old Shiraz from Duncans was placed in new American Oak. After 18 months maturation in oak the final blend was selected and returned to oak for another six months.

The Cabernet shows powerful blackcurrant and plum fruit characters with mocha and chocolate overtones, the Shiraz adds rich ripe blackberry, licorice and pepper spice. The fruit and oak tannins are well integrated with a flavoursome, long finish.
One Black Dog is perfect with roast lamb or beef and strong matured cheddar cheese. Decant prior to serving.
